2. Recognize the positive effects
Hypnotherapy causes permanent changes in the way you think, feel and behaviour. These long-lasting changes can be made only by reprogramming the brain/subconscious. Neuroscience showed that change and reprogramming of the brain happen due to neuroplasticity. They can take up to 21 days.
Hypnotherapy allows you to engage the subconscious mind. The transformational changes that take place are triggered by your unconscious. They'll be easy and natural, but you can easily miss them.
But because you miss these opportunities, you could feel disappointed and this could negatively affect the transformational process. Positive changes can act as the catalyst to positive outcomes in transformation.
3. Accept errors
It is not possible to completely remove the habitual negative thoughts or unattractive behaviour. It is possible to experience the same negative thoughts again. For example, anxious thoughts can arise when an incident occurs to your beloved ones. Similar unwelcome behavior could be observed, as an ex-smoker can smoke a cigarette.
When this happens, clients also get frustrated like they failed and got defeated.
There is however a massive before-and-after difference. You will notice that your negative thoughts do not are able to over you. Instead you can resume your desired behavior.
So, it is important to stay committed and persistent.
4. Appreciate positive changes
In most cases clients notice dramatic changes from the first session with hypnosis. But since they've endured painful experiences for decades and years, they tend to underestimate changes that are quite new.
The painful aspects are familiar and get recognized as part of the persona, the improvements could be viewed as minor or unreliable, but they are also short-lived.
This could lead to negative feelings, thoughts, or behavior.
5. Each session is part of your journey to transformation.
Although hypnotherapy can be very effective in transforming negative patterns of thinking and behavior it can take many sessions to get the desired outcomes.
Sometimes, patients require more time to let go of painful memories. This is essential for healing.
It can be exhausting so there isn't much time for changing work. Also, more work on change needs to be completed during the next session.
If the desired result isn't achieved, hypnotherapists have other techniques they can employ in the following session to facilitate further changes.
